Terry Wade Spell Sr. passed away June 12, 2025 in Fred, Texas. Terry was born January 07, 1963 to Jimmy Carl and Avis Vonzell Short Spell.
Terry was a boilermaker by trade. He loved the outdoors; he would always welcome a chance to go to Bushlake or just visit with friends. He loved his family with all his heart. If he called you a friend you were a friend forever. Terry will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include sons, Dusty Cole Spell of Fred, Texas. Terry Wade “TW” Spell Jr. of Silsbee, Texas; brother, Michael Carl Spell of Fred, Texas; sister, Debra Vonzell McNeel of Fred, Texas; grandchildren, Zoe Spell, and Skylar Spell; great grandchildren, Kinsley Grace Molina and Asher Cole Molina.
A graveside services for Terry will be 10:00 am Monday June 16, 2025 at Fred Community Cemetery with Visitation starting at 9:00 am under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas.
Terry will be remembered and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services for Robert Wayne Vars will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time Wednesday.
Robert passed away June 4, 2025 at his residence in Hemphill, Texas.
He was born September 10, 1946 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Willie and Lucy Trahan Vars.
Robert was a veteran of United States Army where he served our country proudly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Willie Jean Vars and Karl Anthony Vars.
Robert is survived by his wife, Angela T. Prine Vars of Fairmount, Texas; son, Otis Vars and wife Stephanie of Buda, Texas; daughters, Patricia Marie Rauch and husband Michael of Pennsylvania, Crystal Miller and husband Mark of Burkeville, Texas, and Natasha Lynne Vars of Burkeville, Texas; sister, Frances Marie Vars Chapman and husband Ricky of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; grandchildren, Ethan, Sterling, Hayleigh, Barry Jr., Grace, Matthew, Zachary, A.J., Abigail, Ryan, Fox and Fawn; great grandchildren, Ophelia, Millie Lynne, Brailynn, Jarrid, Austin, and Emersyn.
Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Nora Marie Dougherty passed away May 17, 2025 in Jasper, Texas.
She was born April 01, 1937 in Anacoco, Louisiana to Charlie and Terrie Smith Herrin.
Nora was lovingly known as Pee Wee to all her knew her well. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
She is preceded in death by Bud Dougherty; son, Charles Dougherty, grandson, Michael Jones Jr.; great grandchildren, Ryder and Gentry; sisters, Terrie Mae Brinkley, Anne Mae Vosti, and Mattie Pearl Witmer; brothers, Charlie Herrin and James Herrin.
Survivors include daughter, Linda Jones and husband Michael of Batson, Texas, Patricia Hughes and husband Tommy of Bon Wier, Texas; five grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday May 22, 2025 at Bon Wier United Pentecostal Church. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm at the church.
Nora will be missed and remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Christine Allen 79, of Newton, Texas passed away May 16, 2025 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas.
Christine was born July 02, 1945 in Leesville, Louisiana to Jasper and Letha Hillman Cedars. She worked many years as a Secretary.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday May 21, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Newton City Cemetery.
Christine is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Alvin Marshall, and Buddy Jim Cedars; sisters, Jean Stokes, and Laverne Jackson.
Survivors include her husband, Phillip Allen of Newton, Texas; son, Keith Allen and wife Bree of Newton, Texas; grandchildren, Brooke Allen, and Kailey Allen; great grandchildren, Kye, Kayden, Emery and Havyn; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Christine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Dorothy Sue “Susie” Gill passed away May 5, 2025 at her residence in Newton, Texas.
Susie was born August 14, 1957 in Springhill, Louisiana to Bobby Gene and Dorothy Virginia Bearden Fomby.
She was a homemaker which means she was in charge of a lot. Susie loved to sing Boy George “Kama Chameleon.”
She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services for Susie will be 11:00 am Wednesday May 7, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas. Burial will follow the service at Newton City Cemetery.
Nancy Lee Carnley passed away May 3, 2025 in Newton, Texas. Nancy was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on June 4, 1945 to John Newton and Marie Geraldine Cathey Means.
Nancy married Raymond Franklin Stallcup May 23, 1962 and they had three children.
She was a homemaker and loved to shop for shoes and clothes, she also enjoyed going out and eat good food.
Nancy Married David L. Carnley May 27, 2011 in Newton, Texas.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Raymond Franklin Stallcup; children, Gregory Michael Stallcup, Rayna Kim Stallcup Kennedy, and Kerry Leeann Stallcup; and two sisters, Toni Means Hunt and Donna Rae Means Weldon.
She is survived by her husband David L. Carnley; brother, Johnny Means; and grandchild Conner Ray Kennedy.
Nancy was cremated and there will be no service at this time.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
