Tracy Adam Bridges Jr.

  Tracy Adam Bridges Jr., 49, of Mauriceville, Texas, passed away September 17, 2025 at his residence. He was born October 26, 1975, in Augusta, Georgia to Leon and Joann Boyd Bridges.

 

Adam was a heavy equipment operator for McDermott Construction. 


He is preceded in death by his parents.


Adam is survived by his wife, Vanessa Bridges of Mauriceville, Texas; sons, Leon Bridges and Grady Bridges both of Mauriceville, Texas; daughter, Jayden Bridges of Mauriceville; stepdaughter Caitlin Blackburn of Vidor, Texas;  brothers, Joseph Bridges of Mauriceville, Texas and James Stephen Hopson of Woodville, Texas;  and grandchildren, Addison Shaw, Vera White, and Dean Cline.


Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday September 27, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas. Visitation will be Friday September 26, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. 


Adam will be remembered and missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Tracy Adam Bridges Jr.

  Barbara D. Smith (nee Reagan), age 84 passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Jasper, Texas. Born on September 16, 1941, in Houston, TX.


Barbara lived a life defined by quiet strength and dedication to her family and friends. Barbara’s meticulous nature and strong work ethic well equipped her for her career as a bookkeeper; many years at Newton Motor Co. and later at Newton County Courthouse.


She is lovingly remembered by her children: Alan Null; Dana Lisowsky and Jim; and David Hardy. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren Jason Keel and April; Joey Keel and Heather; Ryan Null; Conor Null; Barbara Garcia and Carlos; Andrew Davis; and Randee Araujo and Ruben. She also leaves behind great-grandchildren Madie Keel, Kindall Keel, Karsyn Keel, Kiley Keel, Carter Merriwether, Carlitos Garcia, Michele Garcia, Julian Garcia, Jevanni Garcia, Xaiden Araujo, and Castiel Araujo; as well as great-great-grandchildren Drake August and Hallie August. 


Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband John Smith; her parents Ida Bell Elliot and Harold Reagan; daughter Lesa Davis; and grandchildren Katrena Davis and Jese Davis. 


She found joy in tending to flowers and working in her yard. She loved sitting with friends over a cup of coffee. She was famous for her birthday cards and gifts of detailed calendars that kept family close. She was an encouraging voice and compassionate ear to everyone, and offered a hand to many, even through their darkest times. Despite her small size she loved big….Especially her grandchildren! For over 45 years, Barbara was a devoted friend of Bill W. Within that fellowship she found peace, purpose, and made enduring friendships that were a family.


A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 followed by Funeral at 3:00 at Smith Funeral Home, 305 S Houston St, Newton Tx. Burial will follow at Newton Cemetery.

 

Barbara’s life was a testament to resilience and grace. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

  Julia Stewart passed away September 04, 2025 in Kirbyville, Texas. She was born March 18, 1927 to Caswell and Naomi Ward. 


Julia was a loving wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother and so much more. 


She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Hulen Stewart; daughters, Joy Stewart, and Linda Stewart Riech, brother, George Ward; and sister, Ruth Wood.


She is survived by her son, Kenneth Stewart of Vidor, Texas; grandchildren, Bruce Stewart, Allison Stewart, and Debbie Mitchell; and eight great grandchildren. 


Julia will be missed by all who knew and loved her. 


Funeral services will be Visitation from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am Saturday September 13, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home with burial to follow at Ford Cemetery.

  Marilyn Smith passed away September 06, 2025 in Newton, Texas. She was born February 23, 1951in Newton, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Bertha Dick Fountain.


Marilyn was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and so much more. 


She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Stephen Smith; and many brothers and sisters. 


Marilyn is survived by her son, Tommy DuBose and wife Tricia of Newton, Texas; daughters, Bonnie Doyle of DeRidder, Louisiana, and Debra Murgas and husband Jim of Huntington, Pennsylvania; brother, John Earl Fountain of Burkeville, Texas; sister-in-law, Ophelia Fountain of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, T.J. Allen, Amanda Neyland, Dustin DuBose, Landree DuBose, Conner DuBose, Maisyn DuBose, and Bailey Jefferson; great grandchildren, Abbigayle Allen, Annabelle Allen, Bentley Neyland, Liam Neyland, Waylon Neyland, Natalie DuBose, Jaxson DuBose, Ellie Ann DuBose, Indie DuBose, Harmony Rae Anthony, and Sevynn Anthony.


Visitation will be Wednesday September 10, 2025 from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Newton, Texas. A graveside service will be 11:00 am Thursday September 11, 2025 at Newton City Cemetery.


Marilyn will be remembered and missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Thomas Brent Allen Sr.

  Thomas Brent Allen Sr., 59 of Newton, Texas, passed away on August 12, 2025, in Jasper, Texas. He was born on August 23, 1965, to the late Alan and Jean Allen. 


Thomas was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose love for his family was evident in every part of his life. He is survived by his wife, Georgie Allen; sons, Thomas Allen Jr. of Newton, Jerrod Armstrong and wife Victoria of Newton, Justin O’Quain and wife Juliet of Leesville, LA; daughter, Jessica O’Quain of Newton; brothers, Gregory Raymond and wife Laveda of Newton, Mark Allen and wife Lisa of Houston; five beloved grandchildren, Emma, Sophia, Abbigayle, Annabelle, and Elizabeth, and numerous nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Jean Allen: brother, Jay Raymond, and sisters, Becky Stowers, Diana Klotzman, Cindy Stafford and Pam Raymond. 


A highly skilled custom home builder, Thomas and Georgie were the proud owners of T&G Residentials. His craftsmanship and talent left a lasting mark on the community, and his work will continue to stand as a testament to his dedication and ability. Beyond his work, Thomas enjoyed spending time with his family and his cats (Lucille and Kip), and he found peace and joy in the outdoors, especially at the lake. 


A celebration of life will be held for Thomas at Smith Funeral Home in Newton on Saturday, September 06, 2025 at 11:00 am. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the life of a man who touched so many with his love, skill and kindness.

  Printis Ray Lane, 90, of Burkeville, Texas passed away August 07, 2025 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas. He was born March 31, 1935 in San Augustine, Texas to Everett and Lucy Wagstaff Lane.


Printis worked in the logging industry for many years. 


He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dewayne Lane; brothers, Robert Lane, Merle Lane, Bernis Lane, great grandchild, Selena Cheyenne Northern. 


Survivors include his wife Bernice Lane of Burkeville, Texas; son Chris Lane and wife Janet of Jasper, Texas; two step sons, James Medley and wife Molina of Merryville, Louisiana, Paul Medley and wife Sharon of Merryville, Louisiana; two step daughters, Gail Miller and husband Donald Ray of Fairville, Texas, Deirdre Freestone and husband Allen of Burkeville, Texas; eleven step grandchildren, Dianna Medley of Bronson, Texas, Amanda Pike and husband Michael of Newton, Texas, Don Miller and wife Trish of Burkeville, Texas, Marie Babbitt and husband Frank of Bridge City, Texas, Andy medley of Georgia, Elvin Northern and wife Victoria of Burkeville, Texas, Daniel Medley and wife Amber of Merryville, Louisiana, Kim Samson and husband Jeff of Russellville, Arkansas, Ryan Medley and wife Melinda of Merryville, Louisiana, Kyle medley and wife Cassidy of Burkeville, Texas, and Matthew Medley and wife Brittany of Lake Charles, Louisiana; twenty seven step great grandchildren and five great great step grandchildren. 


Visitation for Mr. Lane will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Friday August 8, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday August 9, 2025 at the funeral home with burial at Sycamore Cemetery.


Printis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
